While traveling the Southeast coast of Maui, Hawaii I rounded a bend and came upon the Huialoha Church. It truly is one of the most beautiful stretches of coast on the entire island. The church was built in 1859, and it is one of the oldest U.S. churches west of the Rocky Mountains. It is located near the village of Kaupo, a small settlement consisting of one general store and a few homes. It isn't hard to find lava beaches on Maui that are totally void of people. Who needs sand when you can have such beauty all to yourself!
