This beautiful bobcat was photographed from a blind near a feeding site. The rock outcropping was a porcupine denning area, and a trapper in the vicinity had discarded several porcupine carcasses. Bobcats like to eat porcupines, but they are not nearly as proficient as the fisher in killing them. The average bobcatweighs 15-20 pounds, is very elusive, and seldom seen during the day. This animal was quite large and probably weighed close to 35 pounds!
